Policies
Participation
Participation is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Wisconsin Hills Middle School students.
Students may participate either as a Performer or as a member of one of the Crew teams.
Performers will be expected to act, sing and dance on stage.
Crew Team Descriptions:
Props -- make hand props, construct, paint, decorate, etc. any props or small set pieces needed for the show.
Costumes -- make and organize all of the costume pieces worn in the show.
Run Crew -- work in the wings and backstage during performances to move set pieces, scenery, and ensure that performers have the props needed.
Attendance
Any known conflicts with the rehearsal or crew schedules must be listed on the Conflict Form in the Performer Packet or Crew Team Packet.
Excused absences are those conflicts listed on the Conflict Form, illness, or family emergency. All other absences are considered to be unexcused absences.
Performers are allowed no more than 2 unexcused absences.
Props and Costumes crew members are allowed no more than 2 unexcused absences.
Run Crew members may have no conflicts during Cafeteria Week, Tech Week, or Performances and may only miss 1 rehearsal prior to those weeks.
Students not in school during the day on a performance day may not perform or participate in the show that evening.
Any student missing more than their allowed absences will be removed from the production.
Behavior
Students are expected to be on their best behavior at all times. All school rules apply during WHMS Players activities.
WHMS Players will adopt and follow the guidelines set forth in the WHMS Student/Family Handbook, particularly the section related to Athletics and Activities, including the Activities/Athletic Code of Conduct.
Behavior issues/concerns will first be addressed directly with the student. A second infraction will result in a notification to the parents. Continuing the behavior will result in the student's removal from the production.
Additional Policies
Food is not permitted in rehearsal or work spaces. Waterbottles are allowed and encouraged. Snacks or other food may be eaten before rehearsal or work sessions begin.
Cell phones are not permitted to be used during rehearsals or work sessions. Cell phones are not permitted on stage, in the wings, in dressing rooms, or in any work space backstage. Students will be permitted to keep cell phones with their belongings in a designated location during rehearsals, work sessions, and performances.
Every family is expected to fill at least 1 volunteer slot to help make our production successful.
